About AHMED – Root DBA

Hi! I’m Ahmed Mohamed 👋

I’m a Database Administrator based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with expertise in PostgreSQL, MySQL, and SQL Server. Over the years, I’ve built my career around helping organizations run mission-critical databases with high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), performance tuning, and strong security.

I’ve worked with leading companies like NCNP and Nournet, where I managed cloud and on-premises database environments across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Microsoft Azure. My role has spanned installation, configuration, backup, patching, encryption, and large-scale migrations—all with a focus on keeping data available, secure, and optimized.

Beyond the technical side, I’m passionate about sharing knowledge and mentoring. That’s why I created this blog: to help DBAs and developers improve their skills, avoid common pitfalls, and grow into professionals who can manage databases with confidence. While I cover SQL Server and MySQL, the main focus here is PostgreSQL, because I believe it’s the future of open-source databases.

Highlights about me:

  • Certified Google Cloud Professional Database Engineer, EnterpriseDB Advanced Postgres v15, and DP-300 Microsoft Azure DBA.
  • Strong background in HA/DR planning, performance tuning, and database security.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux/Windows system administration and network/security monitoring.
  • Dedicated to educating others through real-world guides and step-by-step tutorials.

My mission is simple: empower others to become better DBAs by combining practical know-how with modern cloud and open-source solutions.
